LG announces transparent OLED

LG Electronics kicked off Media Days at CES with one of the more anticipated innovations of CES, transparent OLED technology. The LG Signature OLED T transparent and wireless TV will be hitting consumers in 2024. With this push into transparent OLED, LG hopes to help consumers blend their design aesthetic with their entertainment needs. The transparent OLED is able to be used in transparent mode as well as a “curtains up” mode to ensure you’re getting all of the infinite contrast of LGs OLED technology. No word on what type of OLED panel is being used for this transparent TV, if we get any more information we’ll update this post. As of this posting, we do not know the pricing or the release window other than 2024, but hope to learn more as CES continues this week.

With displays out of the way, LG spent a large chunk of their media day presentation talking about their improvements and updates to their WebOS operating system. They committed to 5 years of updates for 2024 model TVs, and WebOS will start to potentially power more than just our televisions, with LG betting big on breaking into the automotive industry to replace “in house” vehicle operating systems. The big focus for LG is creating a home entertainment experience in your car while on the go. LG is also investing in Texas to build and open a production plant to expand their US based consumer and network car charging stations.

LG closed with a new motto on top of “Life’s Good” which is to be your “smart life solution company”
