Shelter-at-Home Playlists

I’ve been resisting posting content or information directly related to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Coverage is 24/7 on the news, social media, celebrities, day to day conversations. I’m not a medical nor economic professional, but I believe it’s important to keep both a realistic, yet grounded perspective as much as possible. Just like most people in the world, I am currently stuck at home, stepping out for a jog/walk (keeping distance from other people), and for supplies when necessary. That’s pretty much it. Does it suck? Yes, it does. This isn’t fun for me, and I allow myself to be frustrated, but with the intention of getting out of my system and taking things day by day.

Obviously, I’m a video gamer, so that’s a pretty easy way to pass the time. I enjoy tech & gadget news, so while it’s slower and less important right now, it’s something to keep my mind off things. And of course, music is perhaps the most common way in the world to escape into.

With that, here are a few Spotify playlists I’ve made and a little tidbit about each as to why I made them:

Corona Time

Listen, this one’s a little tongue in cheek so don’t take it too seriously, but honestly why not make a fun playlist about a thing we’re all experiencing. Nothing super deep, I picked some songs in theme (some of them are a stretch) to the current state of things. Also, La Cumbia Del Coronavirus slaps, @ me.

Workout Playlists - 3 Moods

I made a few different workout playlists based on moods a friend asked for, I’ll explain.

Vibing means different things to people and depending on context it could have multiple meanings. For this workout playlist, I focused on songs that had a solid rhythm, but also allows for a bit of zoning out. Not too loud, not too relaxing, just pop in your headphones and go for a relaxing walk or run or whatever your “casual workout” routine is (is this a thing?).

Pump that iron, kick that ass, DO YOU. Maybe you need a little extra motivation, maybe you’re already motivated. All you know is you got a little extra oomph in your step right now and need the beats to keep up.

You know that feeling when you’re in your car by yourself, or you’re walking with your headphones in, where you are on a mission? That take no prisoners mood? It’s not just anger, but it is a bit of anger. You could punch through a brick wall right now (but, maybe don’t).

Games

Whether you’re pwning noobs or are a noob yourself, grab your controller of choice. Need I say more?

Emo

This one goes out to my Millennials.

w a v e y

Synths, 80s drums, sidechains, Ray Bans. More, please.

What I’m Listening To

This one’s my personal rotating playlist. I clear it out every few months and add new songs, old songs, just the stuff I’m listening to regularly at any point in time. It also doubles as my work playlist, hence the name, but really it’s just the rotating, Danny’s Hot Insert Number.
